Choices, Choices

Via Pinterest
Every day we are faced with countless decisions. Some have very little impact on our life. There's really no right or wrong answer. "Should I wear a blue or green shirt?" But others, can have a detrimental effect on our lives if we make the wrong decision. "I stayed up way too late last night. Should I skip church to stay home and sleep?"

We must carefully weigh each decision, but also take heed not to worry over it. If a decision is causing you worry, that means you need to pray about it. We also can consult our spouse on our choice(or parents if not married).
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phil 4:6-7
When we choose to live according to God's plan, He promises we will receive peace. However, when we make choices contrary to His will we must reap the consequences.

Keeping our focus on Him daily will help us to make better choices!

They're Teaching Me

Sunday Pictures, Images and Photos

I teach ages 4-6 during Wednesday night bible study. One of my favorite things about teaching, is hearing the boys pray. They don't know that through their prayers they're teaching me.

They are all so eager to pray. When I ask, "Who wants to lead a prayer tonight?" little hands shoot up, each one stretching as high as they can, and at least one voice calling "Me, me!". Are we this eager to pray or do we view it as a chore? Often times we are quick to turn to God when things aren't going quite the way we would like for them to. And there's nothing wrong with us seeking God's help with our problems.
"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you." (1 Peter 5:7)
But are we as quick to talk with Him at other times? Or do we take for granted the blessing of being able to speak to him? We are so blessed that we have a "high priest that cannot be touched" so that we can "come boldly unto the throne of grace" (Hebrews 4:15-16).  We must not forget the cost He payed to intercede for us.

And then there's the words they pray. About 95% of their prayer is saying thank you. They're thankful for their family and friends, church, trees, the sick people to get better and us not to get sick. They mention everything they can think of and are sure to call out each classmates/friends by name. Do we thank God as often as we should? I know I don't and it's something I'm working on. So often we take our blessings for granted.

Last night one child thanked God for the air. Air is vital to our exsistance and yet I can't remember ever thanking God for it. It's so much easier to thank God for those things we can see. However, we need to thank God for all our blessings.
"In everything give thanks..." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Challenge: Every time you pray, thank God for something. And us people need thanks too! :) Give an unexpected thank you to someone each day.
